Ngau Tau Kok DRAd Contracts Successfully Completed
Chris Morgan, Managing Director of Cannonway Consultants, was appointed as the Dispute Resolution Advisor for two Hong Kong Housing Authority projects for the redevelopment of the Upper Nagu Tau Kok Estates phases 2 and 3. The contractor for both projects was Tysan Foundation Ltd., and the works consisted of the foundations for six forty storey residential blocks and associated works. The projects were successfully completed in January this year, with no disputes having arisen – a clear indication that the DRAd service can assist in identifying, avoiding and resolving areas of potential dispute before they escalate, and ensuring projects run as efficiently and smoothly as possible. With more Hong Kong Government departments adopting the scheme, it seems likely that Dispute Resolution Advisors will become a permanent fixture in future Government contracts.
The role of the Dispute Resolution Advisor is to work with the parties as a neutral member of the team to ensure that disputes do not arise, or if disputes should arise, to assist with their resolution. Chris Morgan has been appointed as a Dispute Resolution Advisor on seven Hong Kong Government contracts, and to date none of these contracts have had any disputes.
